For your convenience, our most common client questions are answered right here.
What does a counselor do?
Our counselors are licensed by the State of Ohio to provide diagnosis and treatment of mental/emotional disorders, stress/adjustment disorders, and family/relationship problems. Counselors can help you identify problems and teach strategies and skills to better manage them. Counselors are there to listen and support you in making positive changes in your life.
How does counseling work?
Counseling is client-centered. The client determines his/her counseling goals and the counselor works with the client to help him/her achieve those goals.
How can I make an appointment with a counselor?
To make an appointment, you can call our office number at 330-752-1616 or contact us by email
What can I expect the first session?
During the first session your counselor will welcome you and introduce you to the practice. Your counselor will go over the initial paperwork with you (registration, confidentiality, payment policy, etc.). Your counselor will then encourage you to share your reasons for seeking counseling and will help you determine how best to structure your sessions and establish counseling goals.
Will my counseling sessions be confidential?
All licensed counselors are bound by a professional Code of Ethics and federal HIPPA laws to protect confidentiality of health records for all clients with few exceptions (your counselor will explain exceptions to confidentiality).
Because we are a self-pay practice, we are not required to report diagnoses to a third party (insurance company) which contributes to a more open and trusting therapeutic environment.
